LagScope Game Test · Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals ping test — did your ult actually fire?

The voice line played. Your team swears the ult never happened. Rivals decides entire team fights inside two-second burst windows — exactly the length of one lagspike — so a connection that’s “fine on average” still throws fights. We score it on the hero-shooter line: 70 ms and stable. Run the 25-second test below and see what your connection does when it matters, not when it’s idle.

What is a good ping for Marvel Rivals?

Under 70 ms and steady — the same hero-shooter line LagScope uses for Overwatch 2 in its per-game readiness chips. Honest note: LagScope’s built-in constants don’t carry a Rivals-specific threshold yet, so this page scores you on the genre’s line rather than pretending a made-up number is official. Under 70 ms, cooldowns and movement feel synchronous — what you pressed is what happened. Between 70 and 105 ms you’re donating reaction time in every duel: support ults land a beat late, dives connect before your dodge registers on the server. Past that, the game plays you. But Rivals’ real enemy is the spike, not the altitude: fights are decided in bursts, and one 300–800 ms jump mid-fight erases the exact two seconds your team needed. Packet loss is worse — lost input packets are why an ability animates on your screen and simply never happens on everyone else’s. Average, jitter, loss, spikes: the four numbers above are the verdict, not the first one alone.

Average pingVerdict for Marvel Rivals
Under 70 msCompetitive-ready. Cooldowns land when you press them; the ult economy works the way the kill feed says it should.
70–105 msPlayable, not ideal. Defensive ults feel a beat late; you start trading deaths you thought you dodged.
Over 105 msRough. Burst windows close before your inputs arrive. Fix the connection before ranked.

Why do my abilities not register in Marvel Rivals?

Usually the network, occasionally the servers, rarely your hands. When you press a cooldown, your client plays the animation immediately, but the server decides whether it counted — if your input packet was lost or arrived after a spike, the server’s version of the fight never includes your move. That’s the “my ult didn’t go off” moment, and it clusters: it happens in team fights because that’s when everyone’s connection is under the most pressure and when a spike hurts enough to notice. Two honest caveats. First, NetEase doesn’t publish a netcode deep-dive the way Riot and Respawn do, so we won’t invent tick-rate claims — what’s verifiable is on the official site, and anything beyond “inputs and positions are server-decided,” which is how every modern hero shooter works, would be guessing. Second, new-game servers do have genuinely bad nights — if the test below is spotless while twelve players rubber-band, believe the test and blame the server room, not yourself.

How do I fix high ping in Marvel Rivals?

  1. Check the region selector first. Rivals lets you choose your server region in settings — being parked on the wrong one is the single most common huge-ping cause, and it survives reinstalls. Set it deliberately, not by default.
  2. Wire up for ranked. Wi-Fi interference spikes are the classic “abilities don’t register” source. Test your own link — one Ethernet cable is the cheapest MRR gain in gaming.
  3. Time-check the problem. Spikes only between 7 and 11 pm? That’s congestion or bufferbloat, not the game — your router queuing inputs behind the household’s streams. The full monitor’s stress test confirms it in 8 seconds.
  4. Prove a bad route before paying for one. If your ping is far above what your region should get, run the 10-minute VPN A/B test — and bring the result to your ISP before renting a booster.
Honest methodology. LagScope measures your real path from your browser to our nearest node (US, EU or BR) — this page uses lightweight HTTP probes, and the full monitor measures true 30 Hz UDP game traffic. In-game ping adds the last hop from our node to the Marvel Rivals server, so treat this as your connection’s floor, not the exact in-game number. Spikes, jitter and loss measured on this path show up in-game exactly as they are.

Frequently asked questions

Is Marvel Rivals down or is it me?

Test your own line first — 25 seconds above. Clean test (no spikes, no loss) while the whole match rubber-bands and abilities light up without firing? That’s on NetEase’s side — check the game’s official channels. Spikes or loss exactly when your cooldowns vanished? That’s your connection — usually Wi-Fi or a congested line.

Why is my ping high in Marvel Rivals?

Start with the region selector in settings — wrong region is the most common big number. After that: Wi-Fi interference, bufferbloat when the line is busy, or bad ISP routing. You feel it in team fights because one 300 ms spike deletes an entire ult window.

Is Wi-Fi OK for Marvel Rivals?

For quick play, sure. For ranked, it’s the most common self-own. Wi-Fi’s problem isn’t average speed — it’s interference spikes, and a team fight is exactly where one spike costs the round. Run a wired A/B; the spike-count difference is usually obvious within one session.

Watch your connection through a whole ranked climb

The 25-second test is a snapshot. The full LagScope monitor watches your connection for as long as you play — lagspikes, outages, bufferbloat, 24-hour history — and builds a timestamped evidence report you can show your ISP. Free, no signup, runs in your browser.
